True Entertainment gains UK-wide Freeview coverage

True Entertainment has been promoted to a UK-wide Freeview slot, becoming available from Welsh transmitters for the first time.

First launched on Freeview in 2013, True Entertainment specialises in reshowing older dramas from the 60s and 70s alongside newer made-for-TV films and documentaries.

At 1pm, the channel became the latest this week to change Freeview multiplexes, prompting a retune for many in order to continue watching the channel.

Until now the service hasn't been available from transmitters in Wales, as it has used capacity used in Wales for E4, which in turn is displaced from its normal capacity in order to carry S4C to households in the principality. Anyone able to tune into Sky News on Freeview should also get True Entertainment.

In England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, a full retune is required to continue watching on channel 61. Avoid using any 'add channels' option that some devices have. Upon retuning, the old version will appear in the 790 channel range. Viewers who haven't retuned, or who don't have a device that retunes automatically, will see a retune caption on channel 61.

In Wales, viewers should retune to add the channel.

True Entertainment was previously part of the CSC Media Group, until it was purchased by Sony Pictures Television, who currently licence their TV channels under the name 'Columbia Pictures Corporation.' Sony has made other changes to its channels today, including reducing the coverage of Sony Crime Channel. True Entertainment has taken the bandwidth previously used by Sony Crime.
