High quality feed of Virgin Radio UK goes live on Sky and Freesat

Sky and Freesat users can now access a high-quality feed of Virgin Radio UK, ahead of the arrival of Chris Evans to the station later this month.

After a month of testing Virgin Radio UK has now been added to the Sky channel guide and can now be found on channel 0215, a channel number that's just one digit out from the AM frequency of the original Virgin Radio UK, that was replaced by Absolute Radio.

And it's now been added to Freesat too, where listeners can access the station on channel 736.

The satellite feed clocks in at 192kbps, compared to the 80kbps mono feed distributed on DAB digital radio.

But reports from listeners indicate the 192kbps stereo satellite feed is currently carrying mono output at the moment.

Chris Evans takes over the breakfast show on Virgin Radio UK on Monday 21st January 2019, supported by a deal with Sky that means the show will go out without traditional commercial breaks.

Virgin Radio UK is operated by Wireless Group, a division of Rupert Murdoch's News UK. Murdoch's television business 21st Century Fox was until last year a shareholder in Sky.
