Eleven Sports to lose some football rights; Premier Sports steps in

Sports streaming service will cease broadcasting Serie A and Eredivisie football from the end of February.

It follows the termination of an agreement with rights manager IMG and Eleven Sports, which will see both leagues move to Premier Sports.

However, Eleven Sports will continue to broadcast exclusive live coverage of La Liga for the foreseeable future.

During a transitional period in February, both Eleven Sports and Premier Sports will broadcast live coverage of Serie A and Eredivisie. Eleven Sports subscribers will receive a special promotional email from Premier Sports advising them of a special offer for interested fans to continue watching top flight football from Italy and The Netherlands.

From 1st March 2019, Eleven Sport's monthly subscription will be cut to £4.99 a month to reflect the reduction in live sport. The company says it will be in touch with each subscriber with more information.

Eleven Sports has struggled to get its service carried on Sky, Virgin and BT TV since its launch in the UK last year. The lack of a regular outlet for Eleven Sports, whose subscribers had to access the service via the internet, is understood to have been a problem for rights holders. With the move, Serie A and Eredivisie becomes available on traditional pay TV platforms once more.

Eleven Sports says it's looking out for new sports rights to compliment its La Liga coverage.
