BBC Radio 4 LW subject to shutdowns in Scotland

BBC Radio 4 LW in Scotland will be impacted by work taking place at the country's two Long Wave transmitters.

Work at the Burghead and Westerglen transmitters is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 30th January 2019, according to the BBC, resulting in "periods of shutdown".

This will affect listeners of BBC Radio 4 LW on 198kHz across Scotland and parts of Northern England and Northern Ireland, although a weak signal from the Droitwich transmitter, which also broadcasts Radio 4 on that frequency may still be audible.

►Listeners can also access the BBC Radio 4 LW schedule via Sky, Freesat, Virgin Media and Online/Mobile. On DAB, some Radio 4 LW programmes are broadcast as a secondary component channel accessed via Radio 4, while cricket lives on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra.
