Virgin Radio UK starts satellite tests

The new incarnation of Virgin Radio UK has begun testing on satellite, ahead of an expected arrival on Sky boxes shortly.

From the beginning of 2019, the station will become the home of Chris Evans at breakfast and the addition will mean users with Sky boxes will be able to listen in via their television.

The station is part of the Wireless Group, a division of Rupert Murdoch's News UK, first launched in 2016 as part of the UK's second national DAB multiplex, Sound Digital. The Virgin Radio brand was relaunched in the UK after an eight year hiatus after the original Virgin Radio was rebranded Absolute Radio.

Virgin Radio UK can already be added through manual tuning; also on Freesat and other free-to-air satellite receivers, using the following parameters:

ASTRA 28.2E
Freq: 11554
Pol: Horizontal
Symbol Rate: 22000
FEC: 5/6
Mode: DVB-S QPSK
SID: 55135.
