FreeSports officially launches on RoI Sky service

***update: 01/12/2018: Since this article was published, FreeSports has been removed from channel 429 in the Republic of Ireland. Sky has indicated it's a temporary move, although a reason hasn't been provided. Broadcasts in the UK on channel 422 are unaffected.

Sky viewers in the Irish Republic can now officially access free-to-air sports channel FreeSports for the first time.

FreeSports has joined the Irish version of the Sky Electronic Programme Guide, where it can be found on channel 429. In the UK, including Northern Ireland, it appears on channel 422.

Previously, Sky subscribers in the Republic of Ireland could only access the channel via the manual tuning menus.

FreeSports launched in the UK in August 2017, quickly expanding its reach across Sky, Freeview, Freesat and since earlier this year on Virgin Media UK.

It is the free-to-air outlet of the organisation behind Premier Sports and features sports including tennis, rugby union and ice hockey.
