Paramount Network UK goes live... for some

Featuring a schedule heavy with US drama and movies, Paramount Network has made its debut in the UK.

To faciltate the channel, some changes have been made on Sky and Freeview, but Freesat and Virgin Media customers have missed out on the launch altogether.

On Sky, Paramount Network's launch on 159 means Together, which was only promoted to that channel number two months ago, is now found on Sky channel 173 as part of a deal with Paramount's owner, Viacom.
  • Paramount Network launched on channel 159.
  • Together moved to 173.
  • Viacom's BET International channel has moved down to channel 454.

On Freeview and YouView, Paramount Network launched on channel 57. 5SPIKE+1, which was available on that channel overnight in some areas has now been made defunct.

At the same time, there were also unrelated moves associated with Sony moving its crime channel to Freeview 40.

Many Freeview users will need to retune to watch the channel; the channel was only configured on Freeview shortly before launch time. YouView and Freeview Play devices are designed to auto-configure.

Freesat users don't have the channel on their channel list, however it can be manually tuned  (check the instructions for your device), using the parameters :
Frequency:    11344
Polarisation: Horizontal
Symbol Rate:  27500,
FEC:          5/6,
Mode:         DVB-S, QPSK.

The channel had gone encrypted during test transmissions, but is now free-to-air on satellite. So far, Viacom and Freesat have remained tight-lipped over whether the channel will launch on Freesat's channel list.

On cable, Paramount Network is absent from Virgin Media's channel offering for the time being, although negotiations are understood to have taken place between the two parties.

Restrictions
At launch, the channel is only available in standard definition. There is no +1 service, and unlike its sister channels, it isn't being streamed online via TVPlayer.
