Major fault hits TVPlayer

Online TV streaming service TVPlayer was affected by a major outage on Saturday.

It's understood this was the first outage of this scale for TVPlayer since it first went live as a beta service at the end of 2013.

The fault resulted in users losing access to live TV streams for several hours, with the service slowly being restored during the late afternoon. TVPlayer initially provided the all-clear shortly after 2pm, before it was confirmed some services were still being affected and were unavailable to users.

No reason was provided for the outage, but TVPlayer's social media outlets apologised to users, assuring them that access to the evening's pay-per-view event on ITV Box Office would not be affected by the fault.

During the past four years, the service has grown to provide a wide selection of free and pay channels and is now the UK's largest independent provider of legal TV streams.
