Sky battle: Comcast makes its next move

US media giant Comcast has upped the stakes by increasing its bid for Sky.

Less than 24 hours after rival 21st Century Fox upped its offer to £24.5billion, Comcast has increased its original £22billion bid to £26billion.

At the same time, Comcast is also fighting Disney over control of 21st Century Fox's US assets, which are up for sale. The assets for sale exclude news and sport.

As a result, in the event of 21st Century Fox coming back with a higher bid that is accepted by Sky, the company would in the long-term either become a subsidary of Disney or Comcast.
