BT starts Amazon Prime Video roll-out

The roll-out of Amazon Prime Video to BT TV customers has begun.

The move, which follows last month's announcement by BT, gives BT TV customers the ability to access Amazon Prime Video's TV and movie content via their existing box.

From 2019, this means that Amazon Prime Video subscribers with BT TV will be able to access all Premier League matches via their BT TV box - with games shown on either BT Sport, Amazon Prime Video or Sky Sports (via the forthcoming Now TV app).

Current highlights include The Grand Tour; The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel; and live exclusive coverage of the US Open Tennis Championships later this summer.

Tony Singh, content and business development director for BT’s Consumer division, said:
“We’re delighted to be the first UK pay-TV service to offer Amazon Prime Video content to our customers. BT TV gives our customers the flexibility they want to watch all their favourite shows – and of course all the sport – in one place and on one bill. Our ambition is to offer an unrivalled choice of TV content for our customers by partnering with the very best providers and, with Prime Video joining a brilliant line-up including BT Sport, Netflix, Now TV, BBC iPlayer.”

Roll-out of the app has now begun, and will continue to be rolled out to customers during the summer, including to YouView+ Ultra HD box owners. However, Amazon Prime Video will not be enabled on older YouView+ BT TV boxes.

Users will be able to find the Amazon Prime Video app once it has arrived on their box in the Players/Apps section of the BT TV menu. Users can then sign-in using their existing Amazon account details.
