UK first as BT premieres AMC thriller free on YouTube

In a UK-first, BT is to offer free access to episode one of AMC's new thriller "The Terror" via YouTube.

The first episode of BT TV’s latest drama series will be available to watch on YouTube for 24 hours from 00:01am on Tuesday 24th April 2018 for anyone in the UK, with a double episode also available on the linear AMC channel, available via BT TV and Sky.

BT says that this is the first time a pay-TV show has launched in the UK on YouTube before it has been broadcast on television. It marks a major change in which AMC freebies are offered: previously BT has offered free-to-view AMC drama premieres on the BT Showcase Freeview channel, which is in the process of being closed down.

Inspired by a true story, “The Terror” centres on the Royal Navy’s perilous voyage into uncharted territory as the crew attempts to discover the Northwest Passage. Faced with treacherous conditions, limited resources, dwindling hope and fear of the unknown, the crew is pushed to the brink of extinction. Frozen, isolated and stuck at the end of the earth, “The Terror” highlights all that can go wrong when a group of men, desperate to survive, struggle not only with the elements, but with each other.

The ten-episode series stars Jared Harris (“The Crown,” “Mad Men”) as Captain Francis Crozier; Tobias Menzies (“Outlander”) as Captain James Fitzjames; Ciar├ín Hinds (“Game of Thrones”) as Sir John Franklin; Paul Ready (“Cuffs”) as Dr. Henry Goodsir; Adam Nagaitis (Suffragette) as Cornelius Hickey; Nive Nielsen (The New World) as Lady Silence; Ian Hart (Finding Neverland) as Thomas Blanky; and Trystan Gravelle (“Mr. Selfridge”) as Henry Collins. “The Terror” is produced by Scott Free, Emjag Productions and Entertainment 360 in association with AMC Studios. The series is executive produced by Ridley Scott, showrunners David Kajganich and Soo Hugh, David W. Zucker, Alexandra Milchan, Scott Lambert and Guymon Casady.

All ten episodes will be exclusively available on AMC for BT’s customers.
