Eagle Radio launches 80s DAB+ station

Surrey's Eagle Radio has launched a new digital offshoot dedicated to music from the 1980s on DAB and online.

The new 'decade station' has taken the slot of Eagle 3 on the local DAB multiplex for Surrey and South London, and officially launched at 11am on Monday.

DAB reception requires a digital radio set that supports DAB+. It broadcasts in stereo, with a bitrate of 48kbps.

Eagle Radio's Content Director Peter Gordon said of the new station:
“Eagle Radio is growing fast – as well as running our broadcast area’s most successful full service commercial local radio station, we’ve had a phenomenal reaction to our 70s brand which launched last year. With the music from the 1980s continuing to have such a following, we thought Surrey & Hampshire should have its own 80s station operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year."

Eagle 80s joins Eagle 70s and the main Eagle Radio on the Surrey & South London multiplex, which is operated by MuxCo.
