Sky confirms return of Oscars pop-up channel

Sky is to once again offer viewers a special Oscars pop-up channel, part of the Sky Cinema service, from 26th February 2018.

This year, Sky Cinema Oscars will screen a number of classics, including the first ever Best Picture winner, Wings (1927), in celebration of 90 years of the Oscars.

Also in the collection – which will also be available On Demand and via Now TV - will be a number of Best Picture winners including The Godfather (1972) and No Country For Old Men (2007). Sky Cinema Oscars will be on air until 11th March 2018.

The Oscars ceremony itself arrives on Sunday 4th March, with coverage beginning on Sky Cinema Oscars with Oscars 2018: Red Carpet Live from midnight into the 5th March (UK time), before the Oscars 2018 Live coverage begins at 01:30 on Monday morning.

Alex Zane will return to anchor, alongside a range of guests adding analysis of the night’s big winners.

The full ceremony will also be repeated at 8am later that morning, with highlights of all the key moments at 8pm, on Sky Cinema Oscars.

Ian Lewis, Sky Cinema's Group Director said:
"Sky Cinema Oscars is another great offering for our customers. We've got exclusive coverage as the home of the 90th Oscars in the UK, as well as a superb array of films from over the years on our dedicated channel, including some of cinema's greatest ever films."

Alex Zane, Sky Cinema presenter added:
The Oscars ceremony is a memorable occasion every year, from the excitement and glamour of the red carpet to seeing who the big winners are on the night. This year will be no different, and as the Oscars turn 90, we'll be there every step of the way to cover everything from the most important night in the film calendar."
