BT to screen 12 days of free America`s Cup coverage

Clare Balding, sailing legend Shirley Robertson and Stevie Morrison will present free-to-air coverage of Sir Ben Ainslie’s bid to bring the America’s Cup back to the UK.

Starting Friday 26th May at 9pm, BT Sport will be showing 23 days of exclusively live coverage from Bermuda until the finale on Tuesday 27 June. The first twelve days of coverage, which includes the Qualifiers and the Challenger Play-off semi-finals will be shown on Freeview HD channel 115 and Virgin Media channel 548.

Over the bank holiday weekend, coverage starts at 6pm.

Reception of BT Showcase HD on Freeview is subject to local coverage: the signal reaches around 3/4 of the UK. Viewers who can already receive the QVC HD channels on Freeview 111/112 should be able to see BT Showcase HD on 115, but may need to rescan, as BT has only recently added the HD channel on Freeview.

Highlights from the Challenger Final will also be broadcast free-to-air. Full live coverage beyond day 12 will be available to BT Sport subscribers via Sky, BT TV, TalkTalk TV, Plusnet TV, EE, Virgin Media and online.

This year’s competition will see the most successful Olympic sailor of all time, Sir Ben Ainslie, hoping to win the oldest trophy in international sport with his Land Rover BAR team and the America's Cup race boat “Rita”.
