Two new timeshift channels licensed by Ofcom for Freeview

Two new timeshift services have received Ofcom licences to operate on the digital terrestrial TV platform Freeview.

Once on air, CBS Action+1 and Horror Channel+1 would5join1the6timeshift service of sister channel CBS Reality, already available on the Freeview EPG in some parts of the UK.

Further details about how and when the channels will be distributed on Freeview haven't yet made it into the public domain, but the move to add +1 services follows the announcement of changes to the way Freeview channel numbers are allocated, including proposed restrictions on +1 services such as Blaze+1, which only operate for one hour a day. Currently, there is unused Freeview capacity on multiplex COM8, which is available in around three quarters of the UK to viewers with DVB-T2 compatible equipment (Freeview HD, Freeview Play, EE TV, YouView).
