Ofcom green light paves way for Eurosport Wimbledon coverage

Following Ofcom's green light earlier on Thursday, Discovery Networks' Eurosport service will show Wimbledon tennis for the next five years.

The agreement, between the AELTC and Discovery, which runs from 2016 through to 2020 inclusive, was approved following a brief Ofcom consultation, required under Ofcom Listed Events regulations.

Eurosport will broadcast a live simulcast of the Wimbledon Men's and Ladies' single finals to its viewers in the UK and Ireland, as well as broadcast a late night 90 minute highlight show for the duration of The Championships, presented by Rob Curling and due to start at 10pm, immediately after the BBC's own highlights programme has concluded.

The BBC remains the tournament's primary broadcaster, and will continue to provide comprehensive TV coverage across BBC One, BBC Two and the BBC Red Button.

Eurosport is now the only channel in the UK to show live coverage of all four of the sport's major singles prizes.
