Most channels on BT TV will change, with the changes listed below.
Services based on YouView, including BT TV, share their channel numbering system with Freeview. Last year, Digital UK, who oversees the allocation of Freeview channel numbers agreed that YouView should be given an extended channel range to give more space to providers such as BT and TalkTalk to expand their TV offerings delivered via broadband internet to customers.
Currently running from channels 400-599, Digital UK extended the range available for internet delivered channels to start from channel 300.
In preparation for the change, BBC Red Button was moved from channel 301 to 601 in September 2014.
BT TV customers
BT says that its customers do not need to do anything. It says the new channel numbers will update automatically "as long as your box is connected to the internet through your BT Home Hub." Scheduled recordings will not be affected, according to BT.
Other YouView providers
Plusnet and TalkTalk are also scheduled to move to the new channel number range on the morning of 2nd June. TalkTalk details can be found here. Plusnet details here.

Do BT and TalkTalk coordinate channel numbers so that the same channel is on the same EPG slot on both platforms?
ReplyDeleteI ask because they've picked some rather odd numbers for the new list. At first I assumed BT were matching Sky's EPG (where possible), but it's not that, either.
Yes, all YouView partners co-operate. See the current YouView channel list at http://www.a516digital.com/p/freeview-youview-channel-listing.html and scroll down to the 400s to see this co-operation in action!
DeleteAll they're doing is spreading out their channels over more numbers - hardly showing they need those extra 100 spaces. Still don't get why they couldn't have the 600s rather than 300s.
