Local TV barker now live in Birmingham and the Black Country

Viewers in Birmingham and the Black Country can now tune into their new local TV station ahead of its official launch on the 28th February at 6pm.

The local TV station, named Big Centre TV, is testing on Freeview and YouView channel 8 from the Sutton Coldfield and Brierley Hill transmitter sites.

Viewers who can already receive "QVC Extra" on channel 57 and "POP" on channel 125 via Freeview or through a YouView box will be able to get the new channel, but may need to retune to see it added to channel 8.

The coverage map shows the core coverage area, although local topography may reduce or extend coverage in areas around the edge of the coverage zone. Notably from Solihull across to Redditch, the signal may be weaker in some locations. Splatters of signal from the Sutton Coldfield transmitter reach as far south as Worcester, but much beyond the core coverage area, 24/7/365 reception isn't guaranteed.

The channel plans to launch on Virgin Media in the future.
