Late update
Drama on channel 20 is currently broadcasting its full schedule on Freeview and YouView following the removal of its timeshare arrangement with Dave Ja Vu (channel 25).
December 2014 changes
Ireland
Viewers in Northern Ireland with a Freeview HD or Saorview approved TV living in an area where TV reception from south of the border is possible may be able to watch the new UTV Ireland channel, but a retune may be necessary. UTV Ireland is carried on the same TV multiplex as RTÉ Jr and RTÉ One+1; if you don't receive these services you won't receive UTV Ireland terrestrially. It is not available outside of the Republic of Ireland on satellite or cable.
Help and advice
You can check which Freeview channels should be available in your area on the official Digital UK postcode checker. The channels that you will be able to receive is also dependent on the state of your aerial, cabling and the type of receiver you use.
Services recently licensed to broadcast on Freeview, but not on-air:
Unlike the services listed in the coming soon section, there's no further news about these channels on Freeview:
- adultXXX (streamed channwl)
- ITVBe+1
- Sony Movie Channel, Sony Movie Channel +1 and More>Movies (Entertainment)
Multiplex capacity
Available multiplex capacity provides an early indication of whether there is any bandwidth available for any new Freeview channels without closing others down.
- There is currently unused capacity on the BBC-B multiplex, enough for one further HD channel. BBC-B carries channels including BBC One HD, Channel 4 HD and Film4+1.
