Pre-school children's channel Tiny POP launches on Freeview
The service is on-air between 3:00 and 7:00pm every day and replaces POP+1 on channel 126. Tiny POP has been on-air via satellite since 2004, Virgin Media since 2007, and is now owned by Sony Pictures Television.
The channel currently features shows including Ella the Elephant, My Little Pony and Numberjacks.
Adverts advising viewers that Tiny POP was available on Freeview were spotted by eagle-eyed POP viewers and captured on YouTube, several days before the changeover on channel 126 actually happened.
In fact, in many cases, most Freeview boxes don't need retuning to receive Tiny POP. Freeview boxes and TVs that were retuned on the 3rd September 2014 as part of wider changes to the Freeview service and who could already receive POP+1 on channel 126 are usually able to receive the new service without retuning. The service is also available on YouView boxes.
Tiny POP's older sibling POP continues to be available in local TV coverage areas on Freeview and YouView channel 125.
POP+1 meanwhile lives on in Manchester only on Freeview and YouView channel 127. For this, viewers in the area may need to retune. POP+1 originally debuted as a Manchester only channel before going nationwide in September.
