RT poised to launch UK news service

Moscow-based news channel RT is to expand its UK version of the service with the launch of a new UK news provision in the evenings.

The expansion of RT UK will see the version of the channel carried on Sky, Freesat and Freeview opt-out of RT International in the evenings between 6pm and 11pm for a separate news service, hosted from London. The new opt-out is set to commence on Thursday 30th October.

RT first started a UK opt-out in September 2012, when it commenced showing separate adverts for British audiences. Then it expanded its provision with individual shows specific for UK viewers, including Going Underground.

The channel enjoys a multi-million dollar budget, safeguarded by the Kremlin. It has already launched separate offshoot services for the USA and Latin America.
