Quest to show Pre-Season Football Friendly

Discovery's Freeview channel Quest is branching out into live football this August, with coverage of a pre-season friendly tournament in Germany.

Quest is providing coverage of the 2014 Schalke 04 Cup, featuring Premier League sides West Ham United and Newcastle United, plus La Liga's Malaga and hosts FC Schalke 04 from the Bundesliga.

The tournament,  which is being organised by Swiss company Kentaro AG, takes place on the 2nd and 3rd August. Two matches will be played each day with kick-offs at 14:30 and 16:45 BST.

Quest is available on Freeview and YouView channel 37*, Sky channel 167, Virgin Media channel 172 and UPC Ireland channel 154.

Quest's diversification into sport follows Discovery's acquisition of a majority shareholding in Eurosport earlier this year, with the media group reportedly eager to increase its sports presence in the UK. In June, the Swedish FIM Speedway Grand Prix was carried on Quest for the first time, instead of British Eurosport.

*If you haven't retuned your Freeview box for a long time, you may still find Quest on ch. 38. Ch. 38 should now show "Quest+1", allowing you to watch the football an hour later.
