Zee launches Lamhe on Manchester's Freeview service

Zee TV's Lamhe channel is to be available on Freeview in the Manchester area. It will become the latest channel to sample Freeview distribution via the Manchester Television Network, which offers Mancunians up to 6 extra Freeview channels, including Movies4Men and Capital TV.

The channel has confirmed on Facebook that it will launch on Thursday. It will air in Manchester on Freeview channel 53.

Lamhe, Hindi for "moments" is Zee TV's latest free-to-air channel, which launched on Sky and Virgin Media in June 2013, replacing Zee Cafe, with the slogan: "Relive the magical moments."

The channel showcases classic Zee TV programmes alongside two classic Bollywood movies each day.

A licence was issued to Lamhe in September to launch a service on digital terrestrial television.

Last week, fellow Asian channel Sony SAB disappeared off the Manchester Television Network, leaving a vacant slot. Sony SAB also has a nationwide "placeholder" channel for a forthcoming streamed channel to connected Freeview devices on channel 236, but has yet to launch a service.

The Manchester Television Network uses the frequency previously assigned to the now defunct local TV station Channel M.
