Motorsport TV switches to free-to-air

Motorsport TV has become a free-to-air channel on satellite.

Encryption of the satellite feed of the channel, formerly known as Motors TV UK, ceased ahead of the 1st December, meaning its high profile live coverage of the Autosport Awards 2017 on Sunday 3rd December at 20:30 GMT will not require a Sky viewing card to watch.

Shortly after Motors TV was taken over by Motorsport TV last year, the new owners confirmed they were evaluating UK distribution channels, indicating the possibility of launching on new platforms, although its HD channel has so far not gone live. Under the channel's former owners and branding, it had a short-lived stint on terrestrial platform Freeview.

Motorsport TV's outlets on Sky and Virgin Media are unaffected by the changes.

At the present time, Freesat users will need to manually tune in the channel, which broadcasts on the Astra 2 satellite cluster at 28.2°E. With Motorsports TV, three free-to-air sports channels are now available:
Frequency:    11307
Polarisation: Horizontal
Symbol Rate:  27500
FEC:          5/6
Mode:         DVB-S, QPSK

Update: On the 7th December 2017, Motorsport TV was added to Freesat channel 253.
