Motorsport TV joins Freesat

Motorsport TV has officially joined Freesat, becoming the third sports channel on the free-to-air satellite service.

The channel went free-to-air on satellite at the end of November in preparation for the move, which also saw Freesat programme data being attached to the channel's satellite transmissions. It follows a review of the channel's UK distribution outlets, as announced late 2016.

Freesat users can now find the channel on 253, joining Greyhound racing channel Front Runner and Premier Sports offshoot Freesports.

Motorsport TV is the new name for the former Motors TV UK following a change in ownership late 2016 and a rebrand in March 2017. The channel is currently available in standard definition only on all traditional TV platforms, despite previous announcements of a potential HD offshoot.
