Fun Kids ends dual transmission in London

Children's radio station Fun Kids has ended its dual transmission on DAB digital radio in London.

Since 2016, DAB listeners in the capital have had access to two identical broadcasts from Fun Kids in their station list: Fun Kids and Fun Kids UK. The version without the UK suffix, which was broadcast on the London 3 DAB multiplex has now ceased broadcasting.  Most listeners need to switch or change their preset to the other entry on their station list, Fun Kids UK.

Fun Kids UK, which is carried on the SDL National DAB multiplex uses the newer DAB+ technology, meaning some older receivers can't decode the broadcasts. Unlike the original DAB broadcast in London, the DAB+ version of Fun Kids UK is in stereo.

DAB monitoring website digitalbitrate.com recorded the change on the 15th November, which has freed up a slot for an as yet unspecified new digital radio service in the capital.

There are no changes for listeners outside of the London DAB coverage area.
