STV's catch-up and on-demand service STV Player is launching on Freesat this week, in a phased roll-out starting in Scotland today and the rest of the UK on Thursday.
In Scotland, the service offers catch-up access to ITV programming in lieu of the ITV Hub, plus STV-produced programmes including Scotland Tonight. Across the rest of the UK, STV Player provides access to a selection of home-grown STV programmes.
Commenting on the launch, Jennifer Elworthy, Director of Marketing and Communication at Freesat said:
"We're really pleased that Freesat viewers in Scotland can now enjoy the STV Player through our on-demand service, giving them even more ways to watch the best programmes from STV."
Remi Brunier, product owner at STV added:
"STV is committed to giving viewers access to first class programming, both live and on-demand. With STV Player available on Freesat, we can now offer our audience convenient online access to shows on catch up so they can watch their favourite TV whenever it suits them. "
STV broadcasts on Freesat channels 103 and 119 in central and northern Scotland. STV Player is exclusive to the current generation of Freesat receivers.
Freesat has been previously criticized by viewers in Southern Scotland for denying access to the ITV Hub service on its latest receivers, despite ITV being in control of the regional channel 3 service in the Borders.
