Freeview: Community Channel moves again
An adjustment in hours for the Community Channel on Freeview has triggered another frequency change.
Many Freeview receivers will need retuning in order to restore the service, which is broadcast on Freeview channel 63 and now available during new broadcast hours of 10:00-00:00, in a second change of broadcast hours this summer. The changes also affect YouView and EE TV users.
After retuning, the old version of the channel is listed on channel 793. Some receivers will do this automatically while others will add the new version of the Community Channel in the 800s, due to the old version still being on 63. A few receivers, that allow you to manually override officially allocated channel numbers, will allow you to manually move the channel from the 800s to 63 or wherever you want it for the technically adventurous reader.
The Community Channel has traditionally relied on donated airtime, which has resulted in the channel frequently moving slots and changing broadcast hours on Freeview. The Community Channel has moved from a slot on multiplex COM6 to COM5, broadcasting on the same frequency as Sky News and reaching just over 90% of UK households. The channel is available 24/7 on cable and satellite.
