A+E Networks UK, the company behind channels including History, H2 and Lifetime is preparing to launch a Freeview channel this year. Now a licence for the new channel has been issued by Ofcom.
When the Freeview deal was announced back in May, no details about the channel's name were given. However, according to the newly issued licence details, the new entertainment channel will be called Blaze. Full details about what the new channel will show and who its target audience will be is due to be announced soon, with the channel going live on Freeview in the Autumn.
Once on-air, it will be A+E's first Freeview channel. It will launch on the SDN (COM4) multiplex, sitting alongside services such as 5STAR and QVC. At the present time, no cable and satellite broadcasting licence for the channel has been issued, so viewers without Freeview will need to wait and see how they might be able to watch the new channel once it launches.
