UTV to move catch-up and on-demand content to the ITV Hub

UTV's catch up and on-demand service for Northern Ireland is to be replaced by the ITV Hub in June, as UTV migrates over to ITV's systems following its takeover earlier this year.

From 6th June 2016, the ITV Hub will be fully available to Northern Ireland users via the web, mobile and on connected TV platforms including Freeview Play, YouView, Amazon Fire and Samsung Smart TV. The existing UTV Player will be retired.

The ITV Hub will enable viewers in Northern Ireland to access the full range of ITV programmes carried on the service from across ITV's family of free-to-air channels.

Video output from UTV's news programme UTV Live will be integrated into the main ITV News website.

Paul Kanareck, ITV Director of Online said:
"With over 50 hours of new content every week, the ITV Hub is the home of all IT content and a great digital destination for the very latest must-see programmes, live and on-demand."

    2. Indeed Gavin, but currently we cannot access the live ITV1 stream and we're redirected to either the UTV or STV player

If the UTV player closes will we still have access to the UTV live stream ? I assume this will appear in place of the ITV1 live stream on the ITV hub once the UTV player is closed ?

This is what I'm wondering about.

In other areas of the UK is the ITV1 live stream a regional stream or the ITV1 London stream ?

    3. The UTV live stream on the UTV player has only appeared recently so it would be a shame to lose it.

    4. only the itv london feed is what the itv hub website is showing

    5. Looks like we'll possibly lose access then Gavin, unless they have some way of integrating it into the ITV hub for Northern Ireland viewers.

It'll be a shame if local programmes are only available through catch up again and not the live stream.

    7. The UTV live stream has gone, sadly. Local programmes can't be viewed in full screen either, so we've lost quite a bit today.

Must set up my slingbox for Sky as it'll be the only way to view UTV when out and about.

  4. I know Gavin, but reading between the lines it looks like we'll lose the live stream of UTV in favour of ITV1 London, which is a shame.

Pity UTV Live content will only be available in the ITV news website, which appears to be selected video clips of local news content rather than the entire programme.

Still, I'll wait and see what happens next Monday.

  5. Why does UTV not appear on Freebies Play using my new Panasonic TV? BBC1 NI has full 7 days regional catch up but UTV shows nothing.

  6. I too have no access to the UTV catch-up service via either the ITV Hub or Freeview Play on my Panasonic Viera TV. I complained to ITV who, after a long investigation, told me to take it up with our local broadcaster. I'm sorry, but I thought the whole point of ITV buying UTV was so they could offer a UK wide service? Get it sorted ITV. I'm sure your advertisers are none too happy that a potential 1.7 million viewers are not seeing their ads on the catch-up service.
