DAB: Chris Country arrives in NW England and NE Wales

Country music station Chris Country has been added to the DAB digital radio line-up across another area of the UK in the latest coverage extension for the specialist station.

Listeners across Merseyside, Cheshire and North East Wales with next-generation DAB+ compatible sets can now listen to the station following a new carriage deal with local DAB operator Muxco.

Chris Country has experienced a rapid expansion on DAB in recent months, with the station also available on local digital radio line-ups in Cambridge, London, Manchester and Portsmouth. It had originally been part of the failed Listen2Digital bid for the Digital 2 DAB multiplex licence.

The station has been praised for providing more variety on the UK's terrestrial digital radio platform as an alternative to the extensions of existing radio stations offered by larger commercial groups and coincides with the genre enjoying a surge in popularity in the UK.

Reception details:
  • Carried on the local DAB multiplex for Wrexham, Cheshire and Liverpool*. See a coverage map here (external link).
  • Requires a DAB+ radio to receive.
  • DAB digital radios with DAB+ will stay silent when tuned to the station.
*VHF Block 10D, 215.072 MHz
