Freesat adds country music channel

New country music channel Keep It Country has arrived on Freesat, where it is now available as part of the music genre.

It's the first dedicated country music TV channel for Europe since the closure of CMT Europe in 1998 and emerged from the former Showcase TV channel in January. It features country music from the UK, Ireland and USA.

Freesat users can now find the channel on 516.

The channel boasts strong viewing figures following its first few weeks on air, although it was widely ridiculed when it claimed on social media to have had millions of viewers, despite official BARB figures indicating viewing figures were in the thousands; nevertheless a strong start for a niche channel, which until this week has only been available on Sky and via compatible connected Freeview TVs on the Showcase channel, 254.
