The Moyles Effect: Radio X reaches 1.2 million listeners

Chris Moyles helped Radio X record 1.2 million listeners during its first few months on air, up 30% on the former XFM, which it replaced.

The former Radio 1 breakfast presenter helped digital listening to Radio X to increase by 55% versus XFM digital listening year-on-year, also boosted by Radio X going national on DAB digital radio in September 2015.

According to radio listening figures released today, 730,000 of the 1.2 million listeners tuned into Radio X via digital radio. The station is also available on FM in London and Manchester, accounting for the remaining audiences.

Chris Moyles, Dominic Byrne and Pippa Taylor reunited from Radio 1 for the station's new weekday breakfast show. XFM relaunched as Radio X featuring other new signings including Vernon Kay and Ricky Wilson, with existing presenter Jon Holmes taking care of weekend breakfast.
