Home to join Freeview

UKTV is taking a fifth channel free-to-air from 1st March, when lifestyle channel Home launches on Freeview.

Home will launch on channel 25, currently used by Dave Ja Vu.

The channel's programme portfolio includes: My Dream Derelict Home, Escape to the Country, A Place in the Sun: Home Or Away, My Flat-Pack Home featuring Amanda Lamb, Nick Knowles' Original Features, Make My Home Bigger, Fantasy Homes by the Sea and Kitchen SOS featuring Nadia Sawalha.

Recent research by Enders Analysis suggested that UKTV would make further channels free-to-air, following changes in the market for pay TV carriage deals.

For YouView viewers, the move means Home will no longer be part of the pay TV element of the service offered by BT, TalkTalk and Plusnet.

UKTV's other Freeview channels are Dave, Really, Yesterday and Drama. Sister channels GOLD, W, Alibi, Eden and Good Food are pay TV channels.

Dave Ja Vu is used by UKTV as a squatting channel on Freeview: it held capacity for UKTV ahead of the launch of Really in 2011 and Drama in 2013, reverting to a part-time service for a while after each launch, in order to keep the Freeview channel number. The channel looks set to move elsewhere giving UKTV an option for future free-to-air moves. Home was originally known as UK Style, one of the stations carried on the now defunct terrestrial pay TV service Top Up TV
