Sudden loss of Rishtey on Freeview

South Asian channel Rishtey Europe has abruptly fallen off air on Freeview, where the service was available on channel 77.

No reason for the loss of programmes have been supplied by the broadcaster; at the present time viewers are advised on-screen that the channel is "currently unavailable", with details of the channel's web address provided, although the website provides no further information.

Freeview and Digital UK have so far not published an official update on the status of the channel. In fact, Freeview's support team has been responding to queries by advising viewers to check their reception troubleshooter, when the problem is not reception-related.

Rishtey on Freeview was only available to viewers with compatible Freeview HD or YouView devices, its signal covered around 70% of the UK population. It launched on the platform in August 2015.

Rishtey on other platforms
Rishtey Europe continues as normal on Sky (822), Freesat (661) and cable services. And viewers can watch a live stream of Rishtey right now via the TVPlayer website; also available on the TVPlayer mobile app, although Rishtey is also currently unavailable on TVPlayer's connected Freeview service on channel 241.

  2. Please can someone help and fix this. I'm a daily viewer of Rishtey Europe and find it highly unfair that this channel has suddenly became currently unavailable. Bring it back missing too much and all my favourite programmes

    1. I totally agree with you. I also have been watching a lot of the programmes on a daily basis and now consider it to be my favourite channel. It has been incredibly frustrating that there has been so little information about this. I have contacted Talk Talk on three occasions since this has happened. The last two times a very helpful lady Anna even tried to find out information for me from the broadcaster but was unable to. Please bring it back soon!

    2. TalkTalk has no control over the channel. Channels 1-299 on your TalkTalk receiver are from Freeview and delivered via your aerial. TalkTalk only have control over channels 300-599.

    3. I contacted Talk talk twice over this too hoping by some miracle it was a signal problem etc but was told after they tried hard to help with every check they could that it was out of their control. What i loved the most was how i could watch my favourite programmes like Bandini, Thapki Pyaar Ki, Meri aashiqui tumse hi, Uttaran & Kitani mohabbat hai all in English subtitles but was picking up some Hindi too which i loved. I've been so desperate for it back, i tried to email Viacom18 as i hear they own the channel, but my email was rejected as they have received too many emails at this time. I called Youview to see if they could assist me too, also Digital uk. No one can give me any answers to just see if and when (i'm praying very hard) we get Rishtey Europe channel back. I live in hope but i need the subtitles and all these great soaps were starting to get exciting. Please someone help :(

  3. I called up my provider (talk talk) to check if it was something from their end but they had no details. The most annoying fact is the lack of information anywhere !!...I get all other HD channels so ofcourse no loss in transmission so it has to do something with the broadcasting company. We would all appreciate if there are any updates !!

    1. If what you're saying is really the case that is sad. Nothing against Viva, but having just looked at that channel, I know which one I prefer. Sorry Viva, in my opinion no contest.

  6. So frustrating, one minute I was watching the channel the next minute it just disappeared as it has now become my favourite TV channel. I have contacted Talk Talk twice about this which in itself is not easy, as in order to get to speak to someone straight away you have to get through the automated questions. On all occasions I had to run checks with my TV which also takes time and money. On the third occasion a lovely lady called Anna called me back and even tried to find out information from the broadcaster for me but did not have access to that either. Please sort this out SOON!
