BBC retains Wimbledon rights until 2020

The BBC has extended its deal with the All England Club to secure tennis from Wimbledon on the BBC until and including 2020.

The announcement means the world-famous tennis tournament remains free-to-air across BBC One, Two, the Red Button, online and on radio for another three years.

BBC Director General Tony Hall said:
"Wimbledon unites the nation and I'm delighted that it will continue on the BBC until 2020. There is something very special about having major sporting events on the BBC, and in difficult financial times, this is a deal that represents the BBC's commitment to sport in what is an incredibly competitive market."
