Ericsson will continue to be responsible for bringing ITV services to your screen until at least 2024.
The contract covers all ITV services: the main ITV channel - plus regional variants, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, CITV, ITVBe and ITV Encore.
Importantly, as the way we watch TV changes, Ericsson has designed, built and integrated a state-of-the-art scalable simulcast platform for ITV, which means ITV can easily deliver new services and launch existing services on to new platforms, as part of the new contract.
ITV is celebrating 60 years on air next month, and has just this week enabled viewers in Wales to watch their local ITV service in HD for the first time. Between now and 2024, it's likely that most of the current standard definition networks will be replaced by HD, with UHD transmissions a distinct possibly during the contract period.
Simon Pitts, Managing Director, Online, Pay, Interactive & Technology at ITV, said:
"Viewers expect a brilliant TV experience whatever platform or device they use to watch our shows. We look forward to strengthening our partnership with Ericsson to support our channels and content over the years to come."
