Satellite Update: Frequency clearance

Following the conclusion of the migration of services from Eutelsat 28A at the end of June and the arrival of new satellite Astra 2G, parts of the satellite frequency band used for TV and radio is being cleared and some services have changed satellites.

Local TV stations London Live, STV Edinburgh, STV Glasgow and Notts TV (currently testing) are among those being duplicated on a new frequency with their old frequency being withdrawn shortly. Other affected channels include CNBC and Al Jazeera English.

What's happening?
Channels located above 12.5 GHz are being removed from their current transponders and are being duplicated for a short time on new frequencies on Astra 2G. These are highlighted in bold in the overview below.

User action
In most cases, Sky and Freesat receivers should automatically change and no user action is required. If you have Sky or Freesat, and spot missing channels, or channels at "no signal", such as CNN, which recently changed frequencies, a reboot should work.

On Freesat, if all else fails, users can start the Freesat Installation process in the satellite receiver's menu, which will rescan for all available channels on current frequencies.

Users with generic free-to-air satellite receivers will need to rescan.

Other satellite changes
The Africa Channel continues its on/off summer. The channel has been frequently falling off air and being withdrawn from Sky's channel listing, before being restored when services resume. The channel is currently off again, with no indication of what will happen to the channel.

The extra BBC Red Button streams that were launched to provide additional coverage for Glastonbury and Wimbledon have now been switched off. The Red Button service has returned to its usual 1 stream configuration, with just BBC RB1 remaining on-air until the next big event...

A new HD channel, &TV HD has launched. It replaces the standard definition version of &TV on Sky's Electronic Programme Guide and is available for manual tuning on the 11538V frequency, full details in the overview below.

Quest moves to Sky channel 144 on 16/07/2015.
