ITV poised for strike action on 14th May

Staff at ITV are planning on strike on the 14th May, coinciding with the ITV plc's annual meeting.

The walkout involving production and other staff, including some journalists at ITV is in connection with the broadcaster's pay offer and has been called by broadcasting union Bectu.

Staff want more than the 2% increase in pay offered by ITV following an increase in the company's profits.

Should the strike go ahead as planned, live programming on the main ITV channel beginning with Good Morning Britain, This Morning through to the ITV News could be impacted.

But ITV says it has invoked contingency measures to ensure that programmes would stay on air. It said it was "confident" that viewers would remain unaffected by the strike.
