BBC First will become available on Telenet cable in Belgium. BBC First is distributed in the Netherlands on KPN and further networks across Belgium, Netherlands and Luxemburg are due to follow.
Screening a selection of new and archive BBC drama and with local language subtitles, BBC First joins the BBC's existing pan-European channel BBC Entertainment and the BBC's UK channels BBC One and BBC Two, which are widely distributed as part of commercial deals with local network operators in the Benelux region.
Viewers can find out more about the channel via the BBC's Benelux website at www.bbceurope.com/benelux
Gabriele Galassi, BBC Worldwide’s head of Benelux, global markets, said:
“We know that audiences in Belgium love our content and we can now give them more of what they want with BBC First featuring localised first runs of the best of British Drama.”
About BBC First
BBC First originally launched as a pay TV channel in Australia showcase BBC dramas including Doctor Who, The Fall and Peaky Blinders, but is being rolled-out around the world as part of a major revamp of the BBC's commercially funded international channels, which includes fully localised versions for viewers in countries where English isn't the first language.
Each version of BBC First has a slightly different schedule, partly affected by whether or not other broadcasters have rights to BBC shows in each territory and is tailored to the audience in each area.
