E4 suspends programmes for Election

Will this guy encourage viewers to vote?
E4 is suspending its schedule for twelve hours on May 7th in a bid to encourage its youth audience to go and vote.

From 7am to 7pm, viewers will see "Darren", the man responsible for keeping E4 on air, in the control room instead of normal programmes.

Hollyoaks fans can breate a sigh of relief... E4 will be back on at 7pm with its usual first-look Hollyoaks slot, although polling stations are open until 10pm.

It's the first time a UK channel has closed down for an Election.

Dan Brooke, Channel 4’s Chief Marketing and Communications Officer said:
“Less than half of under-25s voted at the last election so we’ve engaged the most powerful weapon that we have at our disposal to try and boost that number – switching off their favourite TV channel for the day!”
