Redstone FM takes a DAB break

Community station Redstone FM has temporarily ceased transmission on the local DAB multiplex for Surrey.

At 7pm tonight, the service was withdrawn from the multiplex. Shortly beforehand, multiplex operator MuxCo announced that Redstone would be "taking a short break from the Surrey multiplex as it prepares for its re-launch."

Redstone FM issued a statement via its website confirming that the station is "undergoing a restructuring of its business" and that the station "will relaunch [as] a bigger and better service on DAB soon." Listeners are being redirected to online and mobile services in the interim.

Redstone FM launched on local DAB in December 2013, and currently doesn't transmit on FM, despite the name. Created in 2005, it did operate on FM through several short-term restricted licences.
