Nirvana for DAB, as station throws old name in the Trash Can...

DAB station Trash Can Radio has re-branded itself Radio Nirvana, in order to appeal to advertisers and help fund its ongoing transmission on DAB digital radio via the local DAB multiplex serving Surrey and parts of London.

Trash Can's Mike Spenser said:
"It seems many people, our otherwise potential advertisers, have taken issue with the name of the station having the words “Trash Can” in it."

Radio Nirvana brings a new schedule of programmes between 7am and 7pm, with Trash Can Radio's original output continuing beyond 7pm, but under the Radio Nirvana label. The station features a unique playlist of music - for example, trashy Rock’n’Roll, Old School Rhythm&Blues, Punk, Ska, Rockabilly, 60’s Garagepunk - that isn't heard on other FM and DAB stations in the area.

Trash Can Radio continues as normal 24/7 on mobile and online platforms.
