Final stage of DAB changes as The Hits is replaced

The final stage of the new year DAB station reshuffle has been completed this morning, with The Hits on DAB digital radio across northern England and Scotland being replaced by new local brands.

Starting from now, the stations previously known as The Hits are aligned with their local sister station on FM with the addition of "3" to the name. For example, in Sheffield, The Hits has been replaced by Hallam 3. It's part of a major change to owner Bauer Media's local radio portfolio announced last autumn.

The "place 3" stations will continue to share programming, but with the facility for additional local news, travel and advertising.

A nationwide version of the network, still branded as The Hits, continues on Freeview.
