Signal change for Film4+1 on Freeview

Film4+1 has increased its Freeview coverage today, but viewers will need to retune and have a Freeview HD TV or device to continue watching.

The movie timeshift channel is now also carried in those areas where only a reduced Freeview service is available, increasing coverage from around 90% to 98.5% of households.

A change in the broadcast standard used means Film4+1 can only be decoded on devices that also support Freeview HD channels (such as Channel 4 HD), where it can continue to be found on channel 45 after a retune. The old version of Film4+1 moves to channel 790.

YouView boxes, which are also compatible with the changes, should automatically adjust themselves with the channel update.

Viewers without a Freeview HD certified device or a YouView box will lose Film4+1 on 20th November 2014. The main Film4 service on channel 15 is unaffected by these changes. Affected viewers will see a message on Film4+1 with further details and retuning information.

UKTV's Dave Ja Vu on channel 25 has also changed frequencies - UKTV's plans for this channel are yet to be confirmed.  Dave Ja Vu is set to reappear on its new frequency on 1st December. [Update: brought forward to 20th November.] Previously the channel had only been on-air for three hours a night, timesharing Freeview bandwidth with sister channel Drama. Before then, UKTV used Dave Ja Vu as a temporary full time service to secure what would become Drama's slot.
