DAB update: Kiss to be removed from local DAB in most of Devon

A duplicated version of Kiss on DAB digital radio in Exeter, Torbay and North Devon is to be removed following a request to Ofcom.

The local DAB multiplex operator Now Digital has confirmed that the broadcaster no longer wants to be carried on the local DAB multiplex; it is however now widely available on the national Digital One DAB multiplex in Devon.

According to the request, Kiss will be removed on 30th October 2014. Affected listeners will need to reset their presets to the version carried on Digital One.

The version of Kiss on the Exeter, Torbay and North Devon local DAB service is in stereo, the Digital One version is only in 80kbps mono. The operator of Kiss, Bauer Media is part of a consortium bidding for the licence to operate a second national commercial DAB multiplex, which could create sufficient capacity to launch the service in stereo in the future.

Kiss is also carried on the local DAB multiplex serving Plymouth. This is unaffected by the above change affecting the rest of Devon.
