Equal World starts via Community Channel ahead of full launch

New ethical shopping channel Equal World has started broadcasting teleshopping slots on the Community Channel ahead of its full launch in two weeks.

According to the Equal World Foundation, the charity that operates the channel, Equal World "will look and feel like an amalgamation of a shopping channel and an uplifting version of Comic Relief. Everyone will benefit from this new concept of retailing; consumers, retailers, brands, manufacturers and deprived communities.

"All products will be sourced in a unique way; either being donated by market leading retailers, brands, manufacturers or entrepreneurial social enterprises from disadvantaged areas around our planet. "

Partner organisations supporting the charity include Gemporia, who operate the Gems TV shopping channel plus Arqiva, Pertemps, Virgin Active and the NEC Birmingham.

Equal World will be shown this week on Tuesday through to Saturday at 01:00, and Thursday at 18:00 on the Community Channel: Freeview channel 63*, Freeview HD channel 109 (all broadcasts), Freesat channel 651, Sky channel 539 and Virgin Media channel 233.

*Freeview channel 63 shows the Community Channel from 03:00 to 00:00 daily, so only the Thursday 18:00 slot will be broadcast here. Freeview HD channel 109 is 24 hours a day, where viewers can find all Equal World slots.
