Additional Freeview HD channels go live in South West and Northern Cumbria

The changes make the full set of BBC HD channels available
Viewers in East Cornwall, West Devon, Northern Cumbria and southern parts of Dumfries and Galloway become the latest to be added to the coverage area of extra Freeview HD channels.

During the course of the 10th June 2014, transmitter masts at Caradon Hill (serving parts of East Cornwall and West Devon) and Caldbeck (serving Carlisle and surrounding area) will commence broadcasting BBC Four HD, CBeebies HD, BBC News HD, Al Jazeera English HD and Community HD alongside a standard definition version of Al Jazeera Arabic via new digital multiplex "COM7", which is being rolled out to 70% of the UK by next week.

These channels will be available to local viewers with a Freeview HD or YouView receiver, who can already receive the full standard definition line-up of Freeview channels, plus BBC One HD on channel 101.

Viewers with Freeview HD or YouView receivers should retune later in the day in order to add the extra channels, which will appear on Freeview channels 74, 84, 106, 107, 108 and 109.

Viewers who would like to manually tune in the extra services can do using the following manual tuning details:
  • Caradon Hill (East Cornwall, West Devon) - UHF channel 31 (554 MHz)
  • Caldbeck (Northern Cumbria, south Dumfries and Galloway) - UHF channel 32 (562 MHz)
Further guidance on retuning is available from Digital UK at http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/howtoretune/retuning_instructions [External link]
