Community Channel added to Freesat

After a long wait, The Community Channel has joined Freesat.

The channel, which features short films, factual shows and documentaries highlighting the work of voluntary organisations is now on Freesat channel 651.

Previously,  the channel was free-to-air on satellite via non-Freesat mode and through Sky.  The channel is available 24 hours a day, in contrast to Freeview, where the channel only broadcasts from 2-8am.

The Community Channel was launched in September 2000, broadcasting for three hours each day and mainly showing charity advertisements and selling charity merchandise. It is owned by the Media Trust charity. It is supported by all of the UK's major broadcasters.
