CNN International widescreen, if not yet HD in the UK

CNN International has now migrated all programmes to widescreen and HD following the debut of new widescreen and HD facilities at CNN International's headquarters in Atlanta, USA.

This follows the launch of widescreen and HD programming over the past few months from CNN hubs in London, Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi.

The final broadcasts from CNN London's standard definition control room were made on Friday 7th June.

However, although CNN International can now be viewed in native high definition in Asia, it is currently not available to European satellite and cable viewers.

There has been no word yet as to where and when CNN International HD will be available in the UK and Ireland. In the meantime, viewers will benefit from the switch to widescreen, bringing the channel in line with all other major  news channels distributed in the UK.
